From the Bench to the Badge: Meet the Faces of Justice

The League of Women Voters of Gwinnett, Mocha Moms of Gwinnett, and the National Council of Negro Women organized an evening of education about the key positions that operate within the Gwinnett County justice system. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from the candidates for Gwinnett Solicitor and Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge.

The Gwinnett League turned out in full force at the LWVGA's Lobby Day at the Capitol on February 9. Lobby Day is our organized day at the Georgia State Capitol where LWVGA members meet directly with state Senators and Representatives. LWV members introduced themselves as constituents, shared trusted, nonpartisan information, and advocated for good governance—just like the League has always done best.

At the first monthly program meeting of the year, Rachel Glover discussed legislative issues playing out under the gold dome. Additionally, attendees were provided with a quick activism workshop so that our members are well-versed in being safe and effective when visiting the capitol. This was great preparation for those who participated in LWVGA's February 9th Legislative Day (see above) at the Capitol as well as information to allow attendees to be informed citizens.

Attendees received the most up-to-date information on upcoming elections, and details about their polling places and candidates.
